The Physical

Today I went to the doctor’s office to have my physical done. It was very different than the doctor offices I’m accustomed to. There was a different doctor and room for every procedure. I started with an EKG and then went to get an X-ray of my chest. Then I had an ultrasound done on my chest and abdomen, I’m not exactly what all they were checking but they said everything was perfect. After that, I had my blood pressure taken. The doctor in that room told me I was very pretty and she asked if I was from Russia. Next, I had my blood drawn. This doctor also told me I was very pretty :).

This next part is where it gets interesting… I had to give a urine sample so my translator showed me to the bathroom. She opened the door to the stall and instead of a normal toilet, there was a squat toilet (AKA a hole in the ground). After I obtained the specimen…. I looked around and to my delight, there was no toilet paper in sight. I then had to transfer my specimen from a cup to a test tube and they asked me to leave it in a test tube holder in the bathroom without putting any kind of lid on the test tube, which I thought was strange.

Since I just had my physical done today and we didn’t have all the results back yet, I wasn’t able to practice tonight. However, I still got to go watch and meet all my teammates. All my teammates are very friendly, but most of them don’t speak English. If they do, it’s very little. Practice is at 7:30pm, so I was getting sleepy just watching. My coach says he wanted to do practice at this time because this is when we will play all our games and he wants us to get used to playing at that time. I understand his logic but my body definitely isn’t used to it yet, so it was hard to stay awake.
